Adult Bible Studies

Sundays: 9:45 a.m.
Book of Isaiah
The Book of Isaiah is a life-changing encounter with God's Word, and the author, whose name meant "the Lord is salvation" - preached this message for over 40 years.  The study addresses the Lord's pronounced judgement on the proud, who sought to save themselves.  But, through Isaiah, the Lord also comforted the humble, with glimpses of the coming Savior, the Prince of Peace who will save us from our sins and bring about our reconciliation with God.  This study is led by Deacon Chris Rubino in Room 204.

Christian Apologetics
Christian Apologetics is the intelligent presentation and defense of the historical Christian faith.  This study will look at faith, God, and the Bible, helping us to know why we can believe what we believe, in order to help us defend our faith.  We will be looking at what Apologetics Is and Is Not, and why it is needed.  This study is led by Pastor Glenn Worchester and/or Head Elder Jeff White and will meet in Chapel Hall.

Book of Psalms
Joy, anger, distress, hope and trust are some of our heart cries to God.  These are feelings that are expressed in the Psalms. This study will help us learn how to openly express the full range of emotions to God and allow him to meet our needs. This study is led by Renee Ambriz in Room 202 (Prayer Room).

Crazy Love
God is love. Crazy, relentless, all-powerful love.  Have you ever wondered if we're missing it? It's crazy, if you think about it.  The God of the universe - the Creator of nitrogen and pine needles, galaxies and E-minor - loves us with a radical, unconditional, self-sacrificing love. And what is our typical response? We go to church, sing songs, and try not to cuss.  Whether you’ve verbalized it yet or not...we all know somethings wrong. Does something deep inside your heart long to break free from the status quo? Are you hungry for an authentic faith that addresses the problems of our world with tangible, even radical, solutions? God is calling you to a passionate love relationship with Himself. Because the answer to religious complacency isn’t working harder at a list of do’s and don’ts--it’s falling in love with God. And once you encounter His love, as Francis Chan describes it, you will never be the same. Because when you’re wildly in love with someone, it changes everything.  This 10-week book & DVD study is led by Jon Krueger in the Conference Room.

Five Love Languages - begins February 12
After many years of counseling, Dr. Gary Chapman noticed a pattern: everyone he had ever counseled had a "love language," a primary way of expressing and interpreting love. He also discovered that, for whatever reason, people are usually drawn to those who speak a different love language than their own.

Of the countless ways we can show love to one another, five key categories, or five love languages, proved to be universal and comprehensive - everyone has a love language, and we all identify primarily with one of the five love language: Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Receiving Gifts, Acts of Service, and Physical Touch.

This class, led by Jon Krueger, will begin with an assessment, for each person to learn their Love Language, followed by weekly reading homework and in-class study and Bible application.
